The award-winning Thackray Museum is one of the UK's leading museums, telling the story of medicine and explaining how advances in medicine have changed our lives.

Central to the museum's core objectives is life long learning. Every year tens of thousands of people, of whom around half are school children, pour through the museum's doors to experience, understand and become enthused by the changes to our lives brought about by discoveries in medicine.

The Friends of the Thackray Museum is an active organisation, whose members act as a supporters' club for the museum. The Friends members are people like you, who are interested in medical history and who would like to support the museum and help to ensure its future.

Friends contribute to the museum in different ways, for example by fundraising, giving lectures in their fields of expertise, assisting with the cataloguing, research and conservation of the collections, helping with education activities, promoting the museum at the exhibitions, or writing articles for the newsletter.
