Meaning from Movement
Have you ever wondered how you 'learned how to learn?
You now have the opportunity to find out how this process works by visiting 'Meaning from Movement', the museum's new temporary exhibition that highlights the work of the late Dr Geoffrey Waldon.
The museum is very grateful to members of the Waldon Association for their help in curating this innovative, interactive and exciting exhibition, which runs until early 2010 and brings the work of Geoffrey Waldon to wider public attention. Visitors are encouraged to try out some of the activities that Geoffrey devised to study human development. There are no right or wrong answers; it’s not what you do, it’s the way that you do it! The activities will help you to appreciate just how complex the process of ‘learning to learn’ actually is and how many of us simply take it for granted.
Geoffrey observed that babies and children learn the most basic things about themselves and their world by picking up and handling objects and finding out how to do more with them. This activity increases their ‘general understanding’ and allows them to become more effective learners.” The application of his ideas in education can be used with anyone, regardless of their age, culture or level of ability.
