Night at the Medical Museum - a Great Success!

Attendees of the Night at the Medical Museum event in May had a fantastic time here at the Thackray Museum. Organised as part of Museums at Night, the old workhouse building opened its doors later than usual to let visitors meet some of the strange and colourful characters that lurk in the building after closing time. People spotted around the museum included a Victorian pharmacist who told visitors how he made medicines over 100 years ago, the old Workhouse Matron and even a body snatcher, fresh from digging up some graves. People who made it to the end of the museum galleries even had to complete a challenge in our Life Zone gallery, racing an aerobics instructor through the giant intestines to get a prize!
The Thackray Museum would like to thank everyone who attended Night at the Medical Museum. Our next family event will be the Teddy Bear festival held on the 13th and 14th August 2011. For more information please check the website regularly or call the museum on 0113 244 4343.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
