The Balloon goes up! As Website goes Live
To celebrate our new website www.thackraymuseum.org we will be releasing 300 balloons on Friday 16th May 2008. In partnership with our web designers 9xb anyone lucky enough to find a balloon will be able register a special code on our website to have a chance to win an 8 Megapixel Digital camera a Sony 2 GB mp3 player and a host of Thackray Museum Goodies!
Everyone agreed the old website didn’t really reflect what a lively exciting place the Thackray Museum is, so working with the Knaresbrough based company 9xb we set about designing a website that truly does reflect the Thackray experience.
Being accessible to as many people as possible was also very important so we would like to thank all the people who have looked at the site through all its design stages particularly the visually impaired students of Henshaws College Harrogate.
The website has games, 360 degree virtual tours, visitor’s books & even a joke area so surfers can share their funniest medical jokes.

Through the comprehensive content management system, Thackray Museum staff can update & control all areas of the website including key areas such as new events and exhibitions so it really will showcase the museum for years to come.”
Almut Gruner, Chief Executive said “We wanted more for young people on the Thackray website. Now we’ve got games and competitions, and visitors to the site can put artwork and even jokes online”. She added “It’s all been made possible with the fantastic support we have received from two sponsors from the medical plastics industry, IOM3 and InEOS. They worked with us to develop the web games and exhibition, and they are as passionate about the Museum as we are ourselves!”
